Brother and Sister Tied to 4 Murders

Darmelia Lawrence, the 19-year-old Woodlawn Avenue woman charged with murdering Michael Muchioki and Nia Haqq, is the sister of a man charged in another double homicide near Ocean Avenue on February 2.

She provided an alibi for her brother, Ronald Lawrence, 21, during his initial hearing on homicide charges in February:

When Ronald Lawrence made his first appearance in court on the murder charges on Feb. 9, Darmelia Lawrence and her brother's pregnant girlfriend, Crystal Caldwell, 28, said he turned himself in to clear his name.

"He turned himself in because he knew he did nothing wrong," Darmelia Lawrence told The Jersey Journal on Feb. 9. "He wants to take the lie detector test to prove it."

Ronald Lawrence and another man are charged with executing cousins Mileak Richardson and Lester Thompson in a gang dispute.
